This weekend has Adriaan removed the ceiling on parts of the 2.nd floor. A very dirty job, especially on Saturday when he came home covered in black dust, from head to toe.
It must have been 100 years old dust what came down from the roof planks. Today we moved the last furniture from the 'little guestroom'. Finally I could make a start with breaking out the boarding plates of the wall, and tear of the old wallpaper.
A nice surprise here; it was full of children's drawings - from the family that has lived here almost all their lives.

Another thing we found out, was that the beams on the top of the 2.nd floor, which we thought were part of the bearing construction for the roof - are resting on the innerwalls. The roof only seems to be supported of the outer walls. This has as consequence that we probably cannot take away the walls of the small bedrooms, but can take away the beams in the part we want to open u to the attic.
